The State Of Being Dragged – the artworks by Hong Kong-based artist Joseph LEUNG Mong Sum (*1995) explore various forms of anxiety experienced when being dragged along physically, politically and digitally. In the face of this, adapting to friction of various kinds seems to be the only way out to overcome these fears. This exhibition is part of lotsremark Project‘s artist-in-residence programme and is gratefully supported by Hong Kong Arts Development Council. The artist studied at the School of Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong, followed by a residency at the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University in New York, and then completed the MFA programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He first attracted attention with his series The Flag Of Hong Kong Waving In Wind, which has been shown at lotsremark in September 2021. In autumn 2022, Joseph LEUNG will begin his PhD at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
